Scottish rebel Claire Stuart is more of a warrior than a lady. She is skilled enough at swordwork that the first scene of the book finds her surrounded by dead men. Commander Graham Grant comes upon her and mistakenly believes her in need of rescuing. This sets up the pattern for the rest of the book: Graham attempting to save Claire from herself and Claire being quite convinced that she doesn’t need saving. The clash of the two wills makes for a fun read. The fiery romance that builds between the two adds to the excitement.
Along with the romance, Ms. Quinn presents a plot that could rival any spy novel. Until the end of the book, the reader isn’t sure who the enemy really is. The careful reader will spot a few hints here and there. All in all, the book is a great read!
