Alexandra Bolton promises her dying mother that she will take care of the family. From the blissful heights of passion to the crushing depths of cruel betrayal, Joyce crafts an unforgettable tale. The characters are a wonderful assortment of ton and trash, and there’s never been a gossip mill more vindictive. Alexandra’s plight is heart-stopping and Stephen’s inner conflict practically radiates off the page. Prepare to lose sleep over this one.
