Monkey Star

New York is expensive, and Holly Heckerling is having a hard time making ends meet with her multitude of part-time jobs. Her relationship has just made it to an unexpected six months, and their anniversary date turned into one long disaster. When her friends Danny and Carter call her from California asking that she be Carter’s Lamaze coach, she agrees but has little instruction before she’s on a plane and rushing off to the west coast.
The trip itself is marked with disaster from the moment Holly’s plane lands, and her life turns crazier than ever when she visits the movie set Danny is working on. For some reason the hunky lead in the movie, Colin Daltry, has an interest in her that Holly just can’t figure out. He encourages her to help him with the animal interaction in his scenes to keep her on an otherwise closed set. Having worked with Tallulah, her friend David’s trained monkey, and a variety of other animals, Holly is confident enough to take on a new job as animal trainer and makes a decent salary doing something she enjoys.
The time for Holly’s whirlwind Hollywood experience to come to an end is soon upon her as her life in New York draws her back. With a family emergency, a wedding to attend, a business to run, and a relationship on the rocks, Holly once again finds herself rushing for a flight, this time bound for home to the family and friends she briefly left behind.
Monkey Star is the wonderfully zany sequel to Monkey Love. In Holly’s life there is rarely a dull moment, and flying from the east coast to the west changes very little when it comes to her bizarre luck. With a fabulous dose of humor, Ms. Scott Royce takes readers on a roller coaster ride of ups and downs in the life of young woman looking for her place in life. Fast moving and way too much fun to set down, readers won’t be able to resist laughing at the wacky, but wholly believable world of Holly Heckerling.
