4 and 1/2 Stars..Paula Quinn delivers again!: (2010-05-12) 
Lord of Desire is the first in a trilogy (the second and third books being Lord of Temptation and Lord of Seduction). All three are excellent and each a unique but related story. I loved them and am quickly becoming a devoted Paula Quinn fan. Her stories are difficult to put down with twists and turns that please and humor that is wonderfully natural. And her characters act consistently, which I so appreciate. The dialog and action move along smartly. This one is the story of a dark, handsome Norman warrior who is haunted by a love that betrayed him. Once passionate, he is now cold. He is given the lands and castle at Avarlock belonging to the Saxon warrior he defeated, Sir Richard Dumont. And, he is also given the hand of the Saxon's daughter, Lady Brynnafar. It's an arranged marriage that allows her to stay in her home. She is glad for that but neither wants the marriage. Ah, but she knows this man...she's seen him before and he haunts her dreams. She cannot deny the attraction she feels for him. I love the way Paula Quinn ties this and the next two stories together...it's really one story and it's a really great one. I recommend buying all three.

Simply Wonderful.: (2010-04-22) 
I loved this book and greatly enjoyed Paula Quinn's story of Brand and Brynna Risande. This is the first book in the series and I couldn't put it down in fact kept reading until I finished the book then quicky purchased the next two. The characters are great and their quick fire banter had me smiling the entire time. I highly recommend it. It was a very enjoyable read. As are the next two books featuring the stories of Dante and Gianelle Risande followed by Prince Gareth and Tanon Risande.

Not as enjoyable as the other Paula Quinn books I've read: (2009-09-22) 
Lord of desire was worth reading but for me it was lacking in adventure. I enjoyed the scene when Brynnar takes Brand to her favorite childhood spot over looking the ocean. While I did like the angry heated encounters between them and how that fueled their passions, I think there where far too many of those types of scenes and far too little of the more adventureous scene on the cliff over looking the ocean. I got the jist of what Paula Quinn was trying to convey, the difficulties of getting a man who had lost his true love to get over her and love you, I just think she may have taken it a little too far.

Just OK....: (2008-04-28) 
This is a perfect candidate for a 3 star rating in my opinion. I did get through it, and enjoyed parts of it, but it did not leave a lasting impression on me. It is definitely not a keeper and I would recommend borrowing it from the library rather than purchasing it.

Brand "the passionate" Risande has been burned by love. His fiancee was caught "in the act" with one of his good friends and his heart has been burned and sealed off ever since.

When he is forced to wed Brynna in order to avoid war, he resists loving her, but because this is a romance novel, does not succeed. I did like the characters, but the storyline of Brand being so in love with the other woman and then to top it off by having her show up towards the end of the book was not what I hope for in a romance novel. His obsession with the other woman and Brynna's determination to "win him over" proved to much for me. I did like it enough to try Lord of Seduction, but not enough to remember Lord of Desire for any length of time.

LOVED IT!!: (2007-08-12) 
This book was a very nice change from the paranormals I have been consumed with lately! I forgot how much I love a good historical. And Lord of Desire definitely qualifies! The interaction between the characters is fantastic. I love how Brand can be strong and tough when he needs to be and then gentle and caring in the next heartbeat! And the sparks that fly when Brand and Brynna are together! Just sucks you right into the moment. Ms. Quinn certainly knows how to pen extremely sensual encounters! I love this book and can't wait to get my hands on the Lord of Temptation!
