Product Description:
In Close Your Eyes, The New York Times bestselling duo Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen are back with a suspenseful novel about a once-blind woman with a talent for tracking serial killers The FBI doesn’t usually consult with music therapists to solve their cases. But Kendra Michael’s astonishing powers of observation and analysis have made her a favorite of law enforcement agencies all across the country. Blind for the first twenty years of her life, she cares little for investigative work but can’t deny her unique skill, or the results she’s been able to facilitate. Kendra learned at an early age to become hyper-aware of her surroundings, perfecting the art of picking up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her. Like a secret weapon, she is in high demand. Former FBI agent Adam Lynch, known as The Puppetmaster, has weapons of his own. He’s a notorious master manipulator, skillfully handling criminals and colleagues alike to get the results he wants. Now he needs Kendra’s special brand of help, but she’s not interested until Lynch reveals that Agent Jeff Stedler—Kendra’s ex—is missing and may have run directly into the path of a serial killer. What began as a heinous murder investigation escalates into something even larger and more frightening: a multi-million dollar conspiracy to hide a secret that’s worth killing for, again and again and again.

Kendra Michael works with autistic children using music therapy. Kendra is something of a miracle in that she was blind for the first 20 years of her life, but through the wonderful world of science research and self-grown stem cells her sight has been restored. During her 20 years of blindness Kendra’s other senses were very strong and they are something she still relies on. Kendra has worked with the FBI in solving some cases by using these strong senses but now doesn’t want to assist or be involved with the ugliness of crime.
Adam Kyle left the FBI and now works as a consultant to someone very high up in the world of politics. His nickname at the FBI was The Puppetmaster because he is a manipulator and prefers to work alone. Adam needs Kendra’s help to find her ex-boyfriend, FBI Agent Robert Stedler, who has disappeared. Kendra refuses to help Adam until a masked gunman starts shooting up her office while she is working with a child. Both Kendra and the student get out safely by crawling through the attic, but her office is almost beyond repair. This raises her ire to the point that she agrees to work with Adam but on her terms. She is as strong willed as he is. Adam and Kendra soon find themselves in the crosshairs of a serial killer that is under orders of evil men working on a conspiracy to take over the world starting with the United States.
CLOSE YOUR EYES is intrigue at its best with fascinating characters and a terrific narrative. This is the fourth collaboration by Iris and Roy Johansen, who are in fact mother and son. Each book gets stronger and the characters more three dimensional. This is white knuckle, hold-on-to-your-seat intrigue in its purest form and a real treat for the reader that enjoys mystery thrillers at their finest.
